Teleportation would be the ultimate method of transportation; whoever could unlock it would be a trillionaire overnight. Unfortunately, it seemed like that power would be forever beyond our reach. If it was even possible, it would require computational power and materials science thousands of years ahead of society's current level of technology. However, recent breakthroughs in decoding the human brain could provide the next best thing. Dr. Reiji Haruto was a brilliant young scientist who believed that consciousness could be 'teleported' by rewriting neural pathways from one brain onto another. The only thing actually moving would be the information. The process required a willing participant on the receiving end who would effectively be switching bodies with them. Reiji believed in the idea so much he decided to test the prototype on himself.
Reiji was a tall, skinny young man with jet-black hair who wore square glasses. His associate at the other end was a short, busty blonde woman with perfect eyesight. Growing up in Japan, he saw a lot of American media. It was no coincidence his swapping partner had certain anatomical features. If this experiment worked, he wouldn't just be rich; he would have the ability to live forever, in any body he wanted. As the machine buzzed to life, he closed his eyes and started counting backwards from ten. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. When he got to zero, he noticed his breathing was a bit different with some extra weights on his chest.
