Zero Responsibilities
Every once in a while, Taylor wished he could go on a vacation. Not from work, but from his adult life. Growing up was not all it was cracked up to be. From bills and taxes to a slowly deteriorating body, he missed how carefree he got to be as a kid. It was such a time of peace and amenity relative to the plights of the present day, and he long thought he would never know such times again. So when the opportunity arose to relive those glory days, he jumped right on it.
There were several programs that allowed people to sign agreements and switch bodies, though all participants had to be 18 years or older. Luckily for Taylor, there were other less-than-legal alternatives as well. If being a kid was the dream, then such an arrangement could be made. It simply had fewer options and a much higher price tag. When he was presented with the available ages, genders, ethnicities, and body types to choose from, he was a bit disappointed. Nothing resembled his younger self even remotely. He looked around in exasperation, but the people involved in this underground operation didn't look like they appreciated questions. He quickly chose the least objectionable of the lot.
Being a girl wasn't Taylor's first choice, but how different could life really be? It was only for one day after all. He decided to make it count. He played in the park, biked throughout his neighborhood, and went to the beach. It was almost perfect. The only problem was, at the end of the day, his contact for switching back bodies was now a blocked number. He had been burned. And he couldn't just call the police either; he would only get in even more trouble. His one day of zero responsibilities would not be just one.
