Buried in the Sand
Jack was on the run after a ten-year crime spree, and the feds were closing in. Luckily he kept a swapping amulet on his person at all times to use in case of emergencies. One day, while attempting to lay low in a small coastal town, he saw a suspicious number of unmarked vans parked nearby. He knew it was now or never. He took a walk along the beach and looked for his escape. After a few minutes, he found the perfect alibi, a family with two children playing in the sand. Whispering the ritual into the amulet, he dropped it behind the kids and kept on walking. It would take a minute for the magic to work.
Just then, in the corner of his eye, Jack saw several agents running towards him along the boardwalk. Perfect timing. He began running as fast as he could. The chase was brief; he made it less than a quarter mile down the beach before he was tackled him to the ground. But by then it was too late; as he was getting cuffed, he felt his mind drifting away from his body. A second later, he found himself in the body of a blonde girl with hands and knees covered in sand.
Damn, Jack cursed his luck. I guess the girl was slightly closer than the boy when the timer went off. Where is my amulet anyway? It was bad luck indeed. The children noticed the amulet in the minute it took Jack to run away, and they decided to bury it in the sand.
"Come on, kids," said a woman who could only be his new mother. "It's time to go. We need to clean up before heading to the airport. Our flight is at six."
Where is it? Jack began frantically digging. If I lose it now, I'll never get it back.
"I won't ask again, Bonnie." the mother said. She took him by the hand and walked him over to the family van. Tears welled up as they drove away. He knew he would he stuck as this little girl forever.
