Happy Halloween

Summer got out of the shower and put on a towel. She was trying to get ready for the Halloween party that night, but a series of strange circumstances had her on edge. Unnerving shapes in the corner of her vision. Unnatural noises she may or may not have imagined. Dark figures appearing on the edge of shadows. Even in her house, she was still getting paranoid. "Calm down," she told herself out loud. "There's no such thing as ghosts."

Oh, is that so? A terrifying, shrieking voice made itself known.

Summer freaked out. "Who's there? Where are you? Why can I hear you in my head?" She couldn't see anything, but she could now sense there was some kind of presence in front of her. The voice also seemed so familiar. She thought for a few seconds until it came to her. "Wait, Amber?"

Happy Halloween, bitch. I bet you almost forgot about me.

"No, that's impossible. This isn't real. You're dead. You got hit by that drunk driver."

I'm afraid it's very real, Summer. And since you bullied me the most in life, I thought I'd return the favor in death.

"Please don't. I'm sorry, Amber, okay? I never meant to hurt you."

It's too late to apologize, Summer. Besides, I know you'd say anything to get out of trouble. No more. I'm going to haunt you.

Tears started welling up in her eyes. "For... for how long?"

"I'm thinking... forever!" With that, Amber's ghost pushed Summer against the wall, immobilizing her. She felt her thoughts slipping away as Amber's consciousness took their place. Only a minute later, Amber was fully inhabiting her body.
