Extended Mission (Part 8)

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7

Justin was walking to the office when he caught his reflection in the window. He could not look away. His feminine face, his long hair, his curvy form. Once again, the realization of his permanent womanhood took him aback. It was not the first time the appearance of Agatha Swann made him pause. However, from now on his gender would be a reminder of his failure, both to himself and to the people who died in the attack that day. He replayed his actions over and over, wishing he made different decisions while working undercover.

Justin was attempting to make coffee in the break room when he received an unexpected visitor. "Good morning, Ms. Swann," he said.

Justin turned to see him enter the room. "Oh please," he scoffed. "I'm sure you've been duly informed of my true identity by now."

"I have... but that's not why I'm here. I wanted to apologize for any unintentional misgivings I may have offered you."

His words surprised him. "And here I thought you were just some heartless businessman."

"What's more.... Justin. I think you are beautiful. More than that, you have exactly the kind of quick wit I appreciate, and it would bring me joy to make your genuine acquaintance."

"Are you... are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Peterson?" Justin asked. David only smiled in return. "I must say this is a surprising turn of events." He held back laughing in embarrassment "You should know I am quite a classy woman. I have high standards."

"How about tonight then? If you meet me at my suite around 8:00, I can make us a nice dinner." Justin bit his spoon to hold his tongue, keeping back a torrent of sarcastic remarks. As David left, Justin grew the widest smile he had in weeks. He couldn't help but be charmed by the man. His presence was the one ray of sunshine he had felt on this depressing day.
